zambesi eyewear

Last night saw the launch of Zambesi’s new eyewear. Made in collaboration with Australian based eyewear designer and optician, Joshua Matta, but handmade in Japan – the range took two years of painstaking work from design to production.  Zambesi’s attention to detail is legendary and the artistic process is exceptionally important – and not a thing to be rushed.  But at the end of the two years, they have something to be exceptionally proud of. Taking something deeply traditional, in terms of the hat tipping styles of old, and then adding tinting, mirroring (hand applied) – even two toned – they have put their definitive stamp on this collection.  They have also literally stamped each pair with a discreet Zambesi mark added to the arm.  There are three styles of sunglasses, and three styles of optical frames – this is a concise line.  With stainless steel frames, Japanese acetate frames and hand riveted stainless steel hingeing, the unisex styles are a thing of beauty.  To make sure they are truly unisex, they have produced them in two sizes.   We love the Jetson sunglasses and the Archetype optical frames.  The sunglasses will retail from $495 – $595.  The optical frames will retail at $650.  All the glasses are available both in store and on-line at zambesi.co.nz
