something to hold on to
I just love clutches. I love the ease of them – pick them up and walk out the door. Because I tend to wear a whole heap of drape most of the time, a strap of a bag across the body can be a bit of a drag. But a little (or large) clutch, either held in the hand or tucked under the arm can be just the ticket. My personal favourite is a leather Dries Van Noten one I managed to pick up on sale at Harvey Nicols in London (I don’t often get to say that), in my one trip back to London two years ago. It is already a bit battered and used, but I just love it. And did I mention it was on sale? The sales girl was walking around the store marking things down and I just walked behind her til she got to my Envelope Clutch and then I all but snatched it out of her hands the minute she marked it down! Luckily for me there are a whole heap around at the moment so I decided to pick my favorites… The Gorman Gem Bag for $249 is my pick for my Step Mother of The Bride outfit in January – just a bit of colour so I am not in all black. The Saben Caroline Skull Embroidery Purse $250 is a massive bit of fun, and the new Saben store is now open in Ponsonby Central. It is a gorgeous space. The Madder and Rouge purse at just $29 could be either a large wallet, or cosmetic purse, or a small clutch as it will hold your lippy and phone perfectly. Available from their store in Newmarket, Auckland. The Snatch Clutch (just $49 as it is on sale) in leopard from the Kardashian Kollection is available at Hannahs nationwide. I am still a sucker for a bit of leopard…The Sentry Purse $99 from Kate of Arcadia is a take anywhere kind of bag – I really like its simplicity. I love the Clare Vivier Foldover Clutch $195 stocked at Karen Walker and Playpark because of its vibrant colors and made from salvaged leather. A perfect shot of colour for those of us who stick to a dark aesthetic. The new Mydeerfox bags will be stocked exclusively at Ruby and I am loving the Pasta Clutch with its finger detail ($275). It is possibly referencing my all time favorite clutch that I will only ever own in my imagination. The Knuckle Clutches from Alexander McQueen are just sublimely beautiful – this one is the Knuckle Embellished Brocade Box Clutch and is on net-a-porter.com and is a mere £1615. Blimey.
