I love heels I really do. But I really only love them on other people. I spend my life in flats, and there are so many gorgeous ones around at the moment I thought I would share the best ones. If there are any good ones I have missed – let me know…
These black sandals with cobalt piping are from Number One Shoes and at just $39.99 are an easy summer pick me up. They also come in nude with hot pink piping.
I am loving these String Theory sandals from SOLES in both black and silver. They retail for $89.95. They are available from Mischief Shoes in Auckland and Wellington and on-line at mischief shoes.com.
Salt Water Sandals were originally made in the 40’s and are still being made today. They are available in New Zealand from papershoes.com for the adult sizes in black, champagne, tan and orange. They are only $100 and are a perfect casual sandal. The children’s sizes come in a few more colours and are available from Nature Baby for $79 at the Dept Store in Takapuna.
So the cheapest way to inject some colour into your shoe wardrobe is definitely the Haviana. They are celebrating their 50th anniversary with a ‘Make your Own Havianas’ weekend at The Grassy Knoll in the Britomart shopping precinct this coming weekend. So on Friday 7 December from 10am til 7pm and Saturday 8 December 10am til 5pm you can make your own havianas in any combination you choose, and add your own embellishments as well. Check it out on their Facebook page
For a more dressed version of a jandal – look no further than TKEES stocked at .thisisfabric.com for $85. In neons and glosses – there is something for everyone.
If you want your feet a little more covered, espadrilles are the summer essential. Easily the happiest version this summer is the Optical Espadrille from Gorman. I love their use of prints and textiles, and they even come in a cream and red polka dot bag so you can throw them in your holiday packing. They are happiness for your feet! They retail for $69 and are available from the Gorman Store in Nuffield St, Newmarket.
I have a wedding for my Lovely Step Daughter in January next year, and I have bought these elegant sandals from Kathryn Wilson to get me through the rehearsal dinner (and pretty much everything else) as it is going to be one busy weekend with Hens dinner, rehearsal lunch, the Wedding (Eeeek!) and the lunch for family the next day. At least I know I am going to look fabulous (my feet will anyway!). The Isabel Sandal from Kathryn Wilson is $329, and I think the black might be pretty much sold out. They still come in tan, stone and red as well.
