citta design – a winters tale 2014

There is no question that my favourite city is Denmark’s Copenhagen. Denmark has always been close to my heart with my parents closest oldest friends living there.  When I lived in London, I would try to get across to Copenhagen as often as possible.  It is such an inspirational city with its cobbled streets, beautiful old buildings and its charming pace of life. Family is the focus, eating together and it seems like everyone is biking everywhere as a family as well! They have a proud history of strong design with Georg Jensen’s perfectly crafted silver and gold, and Royal Copenhagen’s hand painted (since 1775) blue and white china. With furniture designers Arne Jacobsen, Hans Weger and Verner Panton, to name a few, influencing what we see as beautiful design, it is certainly a city to soak up some inspiration from! I am planning a trip for 2106 (for my significant birthday) so this collection by CITTA makes me very happy at the moment.  My memories of Copenhagen colour-wise is always about the bright colours, but CITTA have chosen a more soft muted palette of pinks and blues which work beautifully together.  With copper and knitted wools and rugs for texture, this is my favourite collections of theirs to date. I particularly love the Neighbourhood Rug in pearl and black – actually I am in love with all three rugs in this collection. And the furniture (especially the yellow topped American Oak Coffee Table) has a suitably Scandanavian feel to it. I am of course going to love the shot of arrange mixed in with the blues and pinks.  Damned clever right there…

Here are my favourite images, with the styling done by Katie Lockhart…
