not so mellow yellow

If I had to pick at the moment I would have to say that yellow is my current favourite accent colour.  This changes all the time of course, but I recently noticed that all the dining chairs that I liked were all yellow!  This is unusual for me because I generally like a multicolored mix as a rule. I liked the yellow so much that I ended up being inspired enough to use them all in a shoot for Homestyle‘s current issue.

The Patricia Urquoila-designed Comback Chair for Kartell is top of my must-have list at present.  Not only is this chair absolutely beautiful in a classic quaker kind of way, but it is also incredibly comfortable.  I often spec it for home offices as it just takes a simple desk and makes it rather spectacular once the chair is added! It is of course an investment piece at @$750 (depending on the leg configuration) but I will eventually get around to owning one.  I may have to sell one of the children first, but it will be worth it!

The Tolix Chair ($495) from Madder & Rouge is actually from my own home, as is the stool painted in the delicious RESENE Buddah Gold – which I got off Trade Me for $5. The wooden legged Eva Chair $129 is from Freedom Furniture. The teaset is from T2 in Newmarket, the rug from Madder & Rouge – as are the caps for the chandelier (which was lent to me for the shoot).  The beautiful table was from The Vitrine but I think it is already sold! I just added two other splashes of yellow that I love at the moment as well…

The spectacular wallpaper is from Liberty and is stocked by ICON textiles – POA.

The studio shots were done by Mel Jenkins from Flash Studios

I am loving the cotton Yellow Throw from PaperPlaneStore that I picked up the last time I was in Tauranga visiting the lovely Timothy and Krista and run that fantastic store. It is just $49 too…

Me and My Trend have the fabulous Yellow Wall Bookshelf is just $164.  I love the effect of stacks of books up a wall, but this would also be good for showcasing toys, or collectables as well…
